The essence of Laurel Island is its vision of a genuine place that fulfills the needs of daily life.  Two villages will be located on either end of Laurel Island, with each village to have its own unique character.  The intimate Oxley Village, will be located along Laurel Canal at the west end of the island, with this village planned to feature flats above quaint shops, a rustic drawbridge, and a picturesque harbor designed to dock smaller boats.  Oxley Village is planned to have a specialty food shop, a bed and breakfast, a restaurant, and several boutiques.  A more extensive village, Laurel Village, is planned for the east end of the island.  Here, one can enjoy the architectural grace of The Chapel, engage in civic discourse at the Tower Hall, absorb the salt water ambience of Laurel Marina or enjoy the simple pleasure of waterfront dining.
