Laurel Island

Lying on the pristine Crooked River, Laurel Island is in close proximity by boat to the Intracoastal Waterway, the St. Marys River, the Amelia River, the St. Johns River, the Big Satilla River, the Little Satilla River, the Altamaha River, and the Atlantic Ocean, with the Suwanee Canal, the gateway into the magnificent Okefenokee National Swamp Park, only 25 minutes away by car.  Laurel Island offers a convenient launch pad from which to explore or fish any of these enchanting waters.  However, for great fishing and adventure, you do not have to travel far, for the Crooked River is famous for its own rich supplies of sporting fish, oysters, clams, shrimp and blue crabs.  Similarly, hunters will find ample resources for hunting duck, quail, turkey, deer and boar.

Sea kayaking through these sheltered waters from Laurel Island to Cumberland Island not only provides a tremendous physical workout, but also allows for a deeper connection with the rich nature that engulfs one at water level.  Enjoy an intimate encounter with a loggerhead turtle, dolphin, or manatee as it suddenly surfaces, or simply enjoy the experience of the inexorable ebbing and flowing of the tides around and beneath you.

Golf awaits those of all skill levels, with the Davis Love III Laurel Island Links golf course lying just minutes westward, as well as literally dozens of courses within a 50-minute drive, including the internationally famous TPC at Sawgrass.
